Derek Wierema from Illinois, USA, is not just a recent graduate of Crowd Academy, Derek is a new father, welcoming a baby boy while a Cadet.

Describing his Crowd Academy experience, Derek reflected, it is “really well executed and explains everything you need. Crowd Machine is a way to easily build apps that are flexible.”
While juggling baby bottles and two step-daughters, Derek managed to complete the Base 7 exam in record time. Derek plans on teaching the kids his passions including football, baseball, disc golf, and gymnastics, but also plans on educating them as to the future of software development, namely no-code development with Crowd Machine.

Derek is currently a data administrator at the successful company KONE, Inc. Every day at work, Derek relies on, and uses an application that was built with Crowd Machine in the Crowd App Studio specifically for KONE. This application is a customer and equipment assessment tool giving the sales reps the ability to determine if a prospective client’s equipment is a good fit to service, then allows the rep to create a customized offering that matches the customer’s needs. The assessment is done instantly, all from the rep’s tablet.

Derek is so impressed by the application, that he aspires to use Crowd Machine to build more apps for KONE, Inc. plus an app for his daughter’s gymnastics group. Derek sees Crowd Machine as being “great for business and communities due to its ease of use.”
